Irrigation & Walkways…Oh my!

The last phase of the Seed to Share Garden construction is currently underway…as evidenced by the rumble of the dump trucks, array of digging and compacting machines, as irrigation lines are being run underground to each bed and the new stone walkways are being installed.

The heavy rains we have experienced made it crystal clear that the walkways within the garden needed to have drainage and drip irrigation to prevent puddles and mud from taking over the garden.  And by investing in systems that drain well and use as little water as possible, we will be protecting our crops while responsibly using our water resources.

These walkways will get a top layer of crushed limestone…this natural stone will help to raise the pH in our garden beds and also create a tough surface that will allow for easy mobility throughout the garden for strollers, walkers, wheelchairs and beyond:)
